Reconnaissance troopers celebrate the Victory Day

May 12, 2010
Reconnaissance units personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine joined the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Personnel at reconnaissance units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took active part in the celebrations of the Victory Day within the framework of government-organized events. Reconnaissance troopers used the occasion to show yet another time that they can do something more than just carry out their duties professionally: they know how to celebrate this great holiday in an exciting and interesting manner.

A number of units kept their doors open to visitors before the Victory Day, therefore local citizens had an opportunity to visit units’ lines, to take a look at reconnaissance units’ combat records, arms, living, and other sides of the daily routine.

On the eve of the Victory’s anniversary, certain units’ personnel joined theatrical performances and staged combat episodes from the Great Patriotic War.

At the same time, an emphasis was made on both honouring of the Great Patriotic War reconnaissance veterans and telling the youth about the glorious traditions of the past.

On May 9, reconnaissance troopers participated in military parades, floral tributes near the memorials dedicated to the liberators, fireworks, various exhibitions of weapons and materiel, and hand-to-hand combat performances.

The celebrations of this outstanding occasion, filled with splendour and pride in Ukraine help adding extra confidence in the power and reliability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
