First sports trophies found their winners

Athletics competition begins between both military and civilian personnel of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, DIU subordinate units.
Noteworthy is the fact that the number of participants, compared to previous years, increased. This year’s competition encompasses 9 disciplines: basketball, volleyball, swimming, ping-pong, mini-football, all-round athletics etc.


Winners of ping-pong and weightlifting events are already known. Based upon the results of the competition, best athletes were selected to form the DIU’s joint team which will participate in the central staff competition of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.



Head of the DIU sports committee greeted the winners and presented the trophies on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. In his address he stressed that physical training is one of the essential components of the intelligence personnel’s combat training, therefore it is given much attention in the agency. This is well illustrated by the fact that the DIU team has been keeping the lead in the central staff competition of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine for several years.
