Commemorating the 65th Anniversary of the Great Victory

April 7, 2010
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine launches a special project in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Time increasingly separates us from the victorious May of 1945, when the final cannonades faded signalling the end of the most fierce, murderous war in the history of mankind, which lasted 1418 days and nights.

The historic feat of our senior generation will forever stay in descendants’ grateful memory, as well as the heroism and courage of Motherland defenders who withstood every ordeal, fire, and death of the hard war years in order to win the Great victory. At great cost of lives and efforts, they have regained their native land’s freedom and independence, defended its honour and dignity, and rescued the entire human race from Fascism.

Having fully performed their obligation before the Motherland, soldiers of Victory showed the whole world their outstanding bravery, endurance, courage, and patriotism.

We bend our heads in profound gratitude and grief before the cherished memory of those who stayed in the battlefield forever or died from war wounds after. Great honour and recognition to those who now passes their invaluable experience to younger generations.

It is a sacred duty to pass on the historic truth about the war and its heroes, their feats, triumphs and pain from loosing combat friends; to ensure that the bond of generations is never lost.

With this objective in view, we are launching a special project in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Within the project, we will be publishing various materials concerning the combat path of reconnaissance units from war years up to present day, as well as episodes that cover heroic actions of reconnaissance veterans during the war.
