Dear colleagues!

Dear veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine!

Having ratified the Law of Ukraine “On the Armed Forces of Ukraine” on December 6, 1991, the Verkhovna Rada gave start to the history of the Armed Forces of the independent Ukraine.

The holiday of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a tribute to the memory of those soldiers who fell in the name of freedom and independence of our state.

Despite its quite short official history, Ukrainian army’s real age is several centuries, and its combat traditions shaped during severe bloody wars and conflicts from the days of the Kievan Rus up until now.

Due to Ukrainian soldiers’ courage and professionalism shown in the performance of their tasks in the peace-keeping operations, Ukrainian military earned respect in the world.

The personnel of the AFU improve their combat skills during both daily service and combat training in the field, air and sea, showing their patriotism, professionalism and strong sense of responsibility, as well as their courage and adherence to the Military Oath.

Reconnaissance troopers and intelligence officers display their persistence, firmness, patience and sense of responsibility; they make their every effort in order to strengthen the defence capacity of our nation.

On the occasion of the holiday I sincerely thank all the personnel and defence intelligence veterans for your significant contribution to the cause of protection of our state's national interests. I am sure that you will keep bearing the Motherland defender's high title with integrity and honour.

I am convinced that you will remain adherent to the Military Oath even in the hardest conditions; that you will commit your every effort and all your professionalism to maintaining high combat readiness and self-discipline.
