Happy birthday to you – a courageous warrior, a wise teacher!

Hero of Ukraine, Major-General (retired) Eugene S. Bereznyak flipped another page of his colorful life, full of different events and unexpected twists. Legendary "Major Vykhor" celebrated his 96 th year of birth.
Yevhen S. Bereznyak is a famous intelligence officer and an outstanding figure of the national history. He celebrates his birthday just after the Day of the Motherland Defenders. It is very symbolic, because he has devoted his entire life to this deed – in the military field being a professional intelligence officer, in the national education system teaching the children and now actively participating in the military and patriotic education of the youth.  



Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Lieutenant General Victor Hvozd, heads of military establishments, veteran and public organizations of Ukraine called on the legendary intelligence officer to congratulate him. Acting Defence Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Ivashchenko, too, greeted Yevhen Bereznyak on the occasion in his congratulatory address.

Chief of the DIU awarded Yevhen Bereznyak the “Defence Intelligence Veteran” incentive decoration on the occasion of his 96th anniversary and in appreciation of his heroic activity in the days of the Great Patriotic War. “Creativity, inexhaustible optimism inherited from his father, and patriotism have always constituted the life stand of the prominent intelligence officer. Patriotism is the human trait which could lead Ukraine to an equal position among other European nations. Then we will be proud to be Ukrainians”, Lieutenant General Victor Hvozd added while presenting the decoration.
