During the special tactics exercise held in Khmelnitsky region, fully equipped combat groups of Ukrainian Army Special Forces regiment covered nearly 200 kilometres on foot

In early October 2009, Ukrainian Army Special Forces regiment conducted a special tactics exercise.
It was primarily aimed at testing the level of integration of detachments’ combat groups in the execution of their responsibilities.

The current event is unique due to the fact that a camp has been set up in order to provide support of the exercise. The camp incorporated the entire infrastructure: battalion food supply points, field communications centre, tents for detachments' command posts as well as those for the personnel, field-based air-borne complex, field bathhouse, I&R centre, field motor club, field auto repair shop etc.

Regiment commander Col. Serhiy Kryvonos noted that in the performance of special training missions each reconnaissanceman on foot covered nearly 200 kilometres cross country, carrying a full kit (50 – 60 kg of equipment).

In addition, he marked highly the performance of both reconnaissance groups and counteraction units that were putting every effort to hamper the successful accomplishment of the special tasks assigned to reconnaissancemen and to regimental support branches and units.

All pre-planned objectives were successfully completed during the exercise. The personnel confirmed their high professionalism and obtained practical skills under conditions close to real. The event allowed to improve the level of units’ tactical training and made it possible to reveal the areas of the combat training improvement.
