It has become DIU’s good tradition to annually honour Taras Shevchenko, the ingenious poet, writer.
Briefing dedicated to “Taras Shevchenko, a great son of the Ukrainian people, an outstanding poet, writer, and public character” was held today on the occasion of Great Kobzar’s 196th anniversary. Nadia Tsyhanok, researcher at foreign languages studies and research centre of the National Defence University of Ukraine made a speech before the DIU personnel.
Ms. Nadia told the audience about Taras Shevchenko’s lyric, little-known moments of his life and activities.
The event was followed by the performance of DIU’s “Oberih” singing group that performed various compositions from Shevchenko’s lyrics.
