On October 14, 2009, a gala meeting was held in the DIU HQ on the occasions of Ukrainian Cossacks’ Day and the Intercession, an ancient holiday of all Ukrainian military formations.

Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine made a congratulatory speech before the DIU personnel, having stressed the historical value of Ukrainian Cossacks in the establishment of Ukrainian State: “Indeed it is very symboliс that we celebrate this day on the 14th of October, the Intercession, since the Mother of God is a protector of Ukrainian nation. As you know, at all times Ukrainian Cossacks were protecting in arms the Christian faith and Ukrainian people. Ukrainian Cossacks were a symbol of freedom; they always stood up for justice. The Cossacks’ force, rising many times to defend the entire European civilization brought well-earned glory to our nation its”.
In conclusion, the Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine wished everyone good health, Cossack fervour, energy and success in professional activities in the name of our State.
Pupils of one of the secondary schools of Kyiv Podil district were invited to the meeting in order to promote the military and patriotic education of the youth.
The celebrations were followed by a concert prepared by the “Oberih” singing group of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, which performed inflammatory Cossack songs.
