65th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders

October 28, 2009
On October 28, 2009 our nation celebrates the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders. Paying tribute to the heroic deed of our people, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine sincerely greeted the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the DIU personnel and their families.

Dear comrades!

On October 28, 2009, Ukrainian people solemnize the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders.

This date stands among the most outstanding ones in the history of Ukraine.

In autumn days of 1944, the territory of Ukraine was completely freed from enslavement as a result of Lviv-Sandomir operation and East-Karpathian strategic offensive operation.

Ukrainian people have laid their most valuable treasure upon the Victory altar – the lives of the sons and daughters, having given the front over 7 million soldiers, about half of whom died a hero’s death. Almost every Ukrainian family has suffered irreplaceable losses.

The farther we move from those memorable days, the more appreciable the feat of our people becomes, the feat of the Victory’s soldier who held out to save the freedom of the long-suffering Ukrainian land.

Today we bow our heads before the ones who survived the miseries of the war and who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the future of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

Their immortal deed lives in the hearts of millions of Ukrainians saved from slavery and death, in the peaceful life of descendants; it continues in the military service of the intelligence servicemen who, having inherited the glory and the heroic traditions of front-line soldiers, are ready to undertake any mission at any time.

On this occasion I sincerely greet the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the liberators, the DIU personnel and their families with the 65th anniversary of liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders.

I sincerely wish all of you a good health, a long life, energy, family well-being, pep and indestructible belief in the bright tomorrow!

Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to the liberators!

Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine
Lieutenant-General Victor HVOZD
