Minister of Defence of Ukraine appointed
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Ezhel Mykhaylo Bronyslavovych Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

Mykhaylo Ezhel was born on October 19, 1952 in a large rural family in Sloboda-Yaltushkivska, Bar region, Vinnytska oblast. He got used to every hardship of rural life from his very boyhood. Graduated from republic specialized sports boarding school in Kyiv, becoming a master of sports (basketball) in 1970. The same year he was admitted to Nakhimov Black Sea Naval Academy in Sevastopol. Graduated in 1975, becoming a master of sports in naval all-round athletics. After graduation served in the Pacific Fleet, where he has been distinguished as one of the best commanders. After graduating from Hrechko Naval Academy, continued serving in the Pacific Fleet. Appointed antisubmarine warfare division commander in 1991. On March 30, 1993 swore allegiance to the Ukrainian people and was appointed Deputy Chief of the Navy, Main Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. |

October, 1996 to August, 2001 works as Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine. While in this post, Admiral Ezhel achieved ratification of draft Navy Concept of Ukraine, which allowed to specify strategic tasks of Ukrainian Navy development. In addition, Mr. Ezhel significantly improved the image of the Ukrainian Navy both in Ukraine and in the international arena.
Promoted to Vice Admiral in 1998, and to Admiral in 2000. Mykhaylo Ezhel became the first Ukrainian Navy officer to be promoted to the highest Navy rank in the modern Ukrainian history.
May, 1998 to July, 2000 works as member of the Maritime Policy Committee under the President of Ukraine.
August, 2001 to April, 2003 holds the post of Commander of Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Retired from military service in 2003.
After his retirement, Mykhaylo Ezhel retained his connection with the military, paying much attention to military and patriotic education of the youth.
June to December, 2007 works as Adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
February, 2008 to March, 2010 holds the post of Inspector General of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Mykhaylo Ezhel rose from the ranks, Lieutenant to Admiral. Educated by the severe Navy school, Admiral Ezhel is characterised as an experienced and talented commander, military diplomat who serves Ukraine honestly and selflessly, he devotes himself entirely to the Navy and to the military. He is a statesman and a patriot in the very essence. He sincerely cares about supporting the Ukrainian language.
