Celebration in honor of the Motherland defenders
On the 23 of February, 2009, solemn celebrations were held in the Defense intelligence of Ukraine, dedicated to the Day of the Motherland defender.
During a solemn meeting, attended by the veterans of the Great Patriotic war - the Hero of Ukraine Luka G. Sushko, Klavdiya O. Moskaleva, Volodymyr F. Kuzovenko, Grygoriy I. Vartanov, Petro Y. Kravchenko, Ivan D. Natyaga, the first commander of the 40th combined arms army Lieutenant-General Borys I. Tkach, the veterans of the military intelligence and of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the senior pupils of the general education school under the patronage of the Defense intelligence of Ukraine № 19 of the Podyl district of Kyiv - the Chief of the Defense intelligence Major-General Gvozd' Viktor Ivanovich took the floor and emphasized: "This holiday personalizes a devoted service to the Motherland and represents the symbol of an indissoluble link between generations and continuity of the rich and glorious martial military traditions. It symbolizes bravery and heroism of the defenders and liberators of the native land at all the stages of its history.
For a long time the Ukrainians have a particular respect for the brave men, who do not spare their lives for the sake of the liberty of Ukraine and of its people. In the fights for the Motherland our compatriots have fairly won the glory of the warriors".
He thanked whole-heartedly the veterans for their bravery and courage, demonstrated during the Great Patriotic war, and for the active participation in the military and patriotic education of the youth.
At the end of his speech Major-General Gvozd' Viktor Ivanovich emphasized, that today the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the intelligence officers are following the glorious traditions of all the generations of the defenders of our country, fulfill their constitutional duty with honor.
Congratulating with the holiday, the Chief of the Defense intelligence of Ukraine presented to the personnel the decorations of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and of the Defense intelligence for the conscientious performance of the service duties, irreproachable service to the Motherland.
The performance of the choir of the Defense intelligence of Ukraine "A Charm" has become a special adornment of the holiday.
