Military diplomats must actively promote the State interests of Ukraine in the world

At a meeting of chiefs of the military attaches agencies functioning under the diplomatic representatives of Ukraine abroad and representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence working at international organizations which was held on July 18th in Kyiv the Defence Minister of Ukraine Y. Yekhanurov set out a target for Ukrainian diplomats. "Under the modern conditions military diplomats must do their best to promote the state interests of Ukraine in the world", said Y. Yekhanurov.
Today the offices of military attaches represent the Armed Forces of Ukraine abroad and their work is an integral part of a process aimed at stirring up the foreign policy of Ukraine in the interest of its national security. It is their work that forms the image of Ukraine in the country of accreditation. It is important for the right perception of our country and those transformational processes which are taking place in its Armed Forces now. The Minister of Defence noted that these issues are becoming more important with taking into consideration the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.
Defining the prior targets for the Attaches Agencies the Minister of Defence stressed on other urgent issues such as timely identification and reaction to new challenges and threats to the national security of Ukraine; the learning and analysis of the experience of the newly integrated EU and NATO countries; creation of favourable conditions to promote products of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex in the international market.
In the meeting also participated: the Foreign Minister of Ukraine V. Ogryzko, the Chief of the State Security Subcommittee under the National Security and Defence Committee of the Supreme Council of Ukraine O. Skibyinetsky, the Chief of General Staff – Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Army General S.Kirichenko, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine V.Gvozd'.
In his speech the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine V.Gvozd' emphasized that the Meeting was of great significance because it allowed not only to define the role and place of Ukrainian military attaches abroad when they perform the most important tasks, assigned to them by the highest State authorities, but it also allowed to coordinate efforts for the accomplishment of these tasks, to share working experience and achievements.
