On April 16, 2009, a briefing was held in the Headquarters of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of Chornobyl atomic power station accident - the largest technogenic catastrophe in the history of mankind.

The guest speaker for the event was Police Lieutenant General Volodymyr M. Kornijchuk, Deputy Director General of Ukrainian Internal Ministry's "Chornobyl" National Museum.
Volodymyr Kornijchuk told the audience about the undying feat of heroic saviours in the most terrible catastrophe of the XX-th century who at the cost of their lives stopped the deadly perilous pesthole expansion. “The outcomes of the accident at Chornobyl atomic power station, which occurred on April 26, 1986, and its lessons have not completely been conceived yet, although we have been experiencing the consequences of that tragic day of April for 23 years now”, - he said.
The Defence Intelligence personnel will always remember and revere those heroes.
