EU to Establish Advisory Military Training Mission in Ukraine
The European Union has adopted an overriding decision on establishing an advisory military training mission in Ukraine, which is an important political signal of the beginning of cooperation in the military area.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated this at a briefing following the meeting with the EU’s foreign ministers.
"We have reached an agreement that the European Union will launch an advisory military training mission in Ukraine. The parameters of this mission and the time of its establishment will be clarified, but the decision has been made in principle," Dmytro Kuleba said.
The Minister has stressed that the deployment of the mission would be indicated an increasing the EU presence in Ukraine. Separately, Dmytro Kuleba has emphasized that the mission would be an advisory and training mission and would not have combat units.
